Portofino Benefit for MS, A Success!
I would like to take a moment to recognize Pensacola area tennis pros, for the countless time and energy that they put into charitable events for our community. One such example is Portofino Tennis Center’s Michael Edge.
November 13-15th of this past year was slated for Portofino’s first annual Mixed Doubles Tournament benefiting the National M.S. Society. Unfortunately, sub-tropical storm IDA decided to pay us a visit. In the course of 24 hours, Mr. Edge had to take ALL of the wind screens down at Portofino Tennis Center, and then put them back up again in order for the tournament to take place. Because of the storm, not as many players participated, but Mr. Edge through his diligence and hard work, made what turned out to be a beautiful weekend, a huge success. Over $1,300 was donated to the National M.S. Society.
Other contributors to this successful weekend were: Sacred Heart Hospital, Sub-Way (Scott Calvert), Get-A-Grip, Bella Ame and Winn-Dixie. The tournament was lucky to have some great people step up to the plate and help out as well. Just to mention a few: Cyndi Altenhofen, Lisa May and Ashley Self. And last but not least, a HUGE thanks goes to the players that were able to participate.
As a community were are lucky to have such wonderful tennis pros that give countless hours to various charities and wonderful people that are so generous. I thank each and every one of you!
