Teacher, Amigo, Silver Medalist, Strategist, Role Model, Premier Doubles Partner, Father, Husband…it takes many monikers to describe Juan Carlos Bianchi and these are but a few.  Juan Carlos or JC as most like to call him, has had a tennis journey that has taken him all over the world and fortunately for Orlando Tennis, he found his way here.

JC was born in Caracas-Venezuela and raised in Maracay to Cuban parents who left Cuba during the Castro regime.  JC grew up in a house 2 blocks away from a multi-sport club called Casa Italia Maracay where they were members.  At the age of 7 his mom signed JC up for a tennis lesson and he took to the sport right away.  So much in fact that his first coach said he had amazing skills that would take him far in the game and there a tennis career began.

JC played in over 30 countries during his junior and professional career.  His biggest achievement as a junior was twice Coffee Bowl champ 1987-88 and the only player to have achieved that title.  JC won 9 pro level ATP doubles titles and the Silver medal at the 1995 Pan Am Games.  He played line 1 singles and doubles for the University of Alabama where he achieved All American status and a #1 ranking. He finished his career at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.  A stellar career indeed and one that only a handful of players can lay claim.

In 1998 JC returned to Venezuela and built a tennis center in his hometown of Maracay-Venezuela. He ran the center until 2009 when the local government took over the center and its property during a tumultuous regime.  Ironically, 2 years ago the tennis center was appropriately named after JC.

JC was a tennis pro in Miami when he decided to come to Orlando where he had property. He joined the team of professionals at High Performance Tennis located at the Winter Park Tennis Center.  JC works with the youngsters along with teaching private and group singles and doubles lessons to players of all ages.  JC particularly enjoys working with the juniors who have a passion for the sport and the desire to improve.

More than anything, his character is best shown through his children Juan Jose, 15 and Valeria, 17 and his wife of 20 years Gabriella.  Both Juan and Valeria play tennis for the Olimpia High School Titans.

When you first hit the courts with JC you quickly realize that you are getting instruction from an incredibly experienced tennis professional who has a great ability to recognize your strengths and weaknesses and make the appropriate corrections.  He won’t feed you any unworthy praise, you have to earn it.  He pushes his students young and old to reach their full potential.  He has a great ability to break down the game of doubles with simplicity removing all of the overthinking so many of us do.  If you have not had the opportunity to spend time on the courts with him, I strongly recommend it. He is one of those great gentlemen who has spent his entire life giving back to the sport that has brought him so much success.

“Jc’s knowledge of doubles has truly helped us all play a smarter and more aggressive style of tennis”.

“I love taking lessons from JC! First, he has an amazing tennis pedigree and yet he is down to earth. He always makes the lessons fun, challenging and thoughtful. He teaches pro doubles strategy, how to be more aggressive at the net, and how to work the point with your partner. JC usually ends a tough lesson with a crazy skyscraper lob, while he smiles and says “Good luck getting back that overhead!””
